Whether you’re looking for live music, a festival, marathon, or something family-friendly to bring the kids to, Downstate Illinois has something for everyone! Each week we highlight a few fun events within southwest, south central and southeast Illinois.  Our region hosts over 900 events each year, and we pride ourselves on providing the most accurate event information so that you don’t miss a thing. Couch to 5k 

Football Field at Southwestern IL Justice & Workforce Development Campus, Belleville, IL

Tuesday, October 4, 2022 - Thursday, December 1, 2022 @ 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Join the Couch to 5k program, offered by Belleville Parks and Recreation, and prepare yourself for Gingerbread Run on December 3, 2022. Beginners will start with walking and learn the basics of running.

Belleville Chili Cook-Off

Downtown Belleville, Belleville, IL

Hosted by the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce, the annual Chili Cook-off has featured the culinary creations of individuals, local organizations, and area businesses for more than 39 years! 

Art in the Park - Highland

Held in October, Art in the Park is an outdoor exhibition of works by nearly 70 professional artists at Lindendale Park in Highland, Illinois.

Witches Night Out at The Castle

O'Fest 

The Olde Wicks Factory, Highland, IL

Olde Wicks Factory & Schlafly Brewery are cohosting O’Fest 2022, October 7th-9th. It promises to be “The Wurst Party Ever!”

Pumpkinfest - Waterloo

Downtown Waterloo, Waterloo, IL

Started in 2010, PumpkinFest is all about fun: fun with your family, fun with your friends and fun with your community. It's an event inspired by times past, where old is new again and everything has potential.

Fall Family Festival

Oktoberfest Arts, Crafts, and Antique Show

Maeystown Preservation Society Mill, Maeystown, IL

Sunday, October 9, 2022 @ 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Experience the sounds and smells of Autumn. Second Sunday in October each year. Featuring arts, crafts, antiques and food from 9:00-4:00 p.m. at the area around the stone mill and bridge. More than 60 artisans, crafters, dealers, and numerous food stands will be featured. Arts and crafts will include rug weaving, felting, blacksmithing, photography, woodworking, and a country store. Food will include turtle soup, potato pancakes and popcorn cooked in old-fashioned kettles.
