Each week we highlight a few fun events within southwest, south central and southeast Illinois.  Our region hosts over 900 events each year, and we pride ourselves on providing the most accurate event information so that you don’t miss a thing. Prairie du Rocher Party in the Park

Wednesday, August 3, 2022 @ 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Come and bring your lawn chairs with you to enjoy the music and food in the Village of Prairie du Rocher. Food purchases begins at 6 p.m. and the music begins and 7 p.m. and usually runs until 8:30 p.m.

Grand American World Trapshooting Championships

World Shooting & Recreational Complex, Sparta, IL

Wednesday, August 3, 2022 - Saturday, August 13, 2022 @ 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Spanning several days with more than 20 events shooters from all over the globe come to compete in hopes of claiming one of the available prestigious titles such as “Clay Target Champion."

Gateway Dulcimer Society Music Festival 

Four Points by Sheraton Conference Center, Fairview Heights, IL

This festival centers around the traditional folk instrument. Featured are workshops, evening concerts, an open stage, vendors, raffles, the Big Blue Jam Tent, and continuous outdoor and indoor music.

Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson Musical

Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson Musical presented by Goshen Theatre Project As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can't control, a destiny he doesn't want, and a mythology textbook's worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score.

The Richland County Recreation Council is hosting this event. For more info, contact [email protected] Triathlon includes: 200 meter swim, 14.6 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. Individual awards across divisions. Every completer receives a participation medal.
