Father's Day in Downstate

Posted on 06/13/2024 by Emily Kuth

Father’s Day is around the corner, and your guide to gifts and activities you can do with your dad for Father’s Day is right here in this blog, so show your appreciation for all the little things that dads do for us daily. Discover within our 21 counties the different activities and places to eat that you can choose from for Father's Day.

For those dads who like the experience of figuring out puzzles, give your dad the ultimate gift of experiencing Escape 618 in Belleville. There are a few different themed rooms to choose from. The first being “Detention”, where you and your team are the worst students in the class. You have sixty minutes before school gets out, so if you and your team do not get out, you will fail and not pass the class. You and your team must break out of the classroom before it is too late! The second room is “Haunted House”, where you and three to seven others try and help ghost Alice (played by a live actor in the escape room) free her spirit and, if you do not, be prepared for your bones to become a part of the house. Their newest room is the “Jail Cell.” This room can include a team size of 4 to 8 players. You start off being handcuffed into a jail cell and you must work together to escape.

Once done with the thrilling adventure of Escape 618, head down to Bennies Pizza Pub, Downtown Belleville. They have a unique selection of different pizzas to choose from, including dill pickle, crab Rangoon, and some classic pizzas like meat lovers, pepperoni, and cheese. They often have live music that you can enjoy while eating your pizza.

Iron’s Golf Simulator & Axes in Vandalia Illinois is a great spot to take your dad for Father’s Day and something the whole family can enjoy. There are two bays where you can throw axes and one bay where you can try out the gulf simulator. They also have food and drinks!

The Copper Penny Neighborhood Bar is a local pub in Vandalia. Their menu is a full pub-style menu and daily specials. They also offer draft beer and house cocktails. So, when you are done at Iron’s Golf Simulator & Axes, you can come to The Copper Penny and enjoy a nice lunch either inside or outside, as they have a patio where you can eat when the weather is nice. The menu consists of appetizers like fried pickles, Carb Rangoon, Pretzel Bites, and much more. The main menu includes salads, sandwiches, pizza burgers, and chicken tenders.

Beer Bones BBQ Catering & Food Trailer in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, is the place to be to enjoy some good BBQ cooked to perfection. Their menu does change each week, and sometimes each day, but you can expect Memphis-style pork, Texas-style beef brisket, piggy mac, garlic & herb-roasted potatoes, and so much more, of course, while the supply lasts.
