Bird Haven, Robert Ridgway Memorial Arboretum & Sanctuary

Bird Haven is located on the south side of East Fork Lake near Miller’s Grove.  This sanctuary is home to a wide variety of birds and plants and is an ideal stop for lovers of nature.  Dr. Robert Ridgway was a naturalist, scientist, artist, and author.  Dr. Ridgway purchased the land of Bird Haven in 1906 where he and his wife had built their ideal retirement cottage where they could visit with friends and listen to the songs of the birds around them.  Dr. Ridgway’s grave is in Bird Haven and is marked by a granite boulder.
